So, update: I quit my job. I signed up for the Yoga Teacher Training. I’m on a semi-vacation now (hence the slightly late post!).
I’ve been doing yoga almost daily to prepare for the training and get my body ready. I’ve been doing it mostly at home from YouTube. A lot of Yoga with Adrienne. If you’ve never heard of her, she’s fantastic – based in Austin, TX. Her slogan is “Find What Feels Good (FWFG).”
This morning I was making breakfast – eggs and hash brown patties – and as I was flipping the patties, “Find what feels good” popped into my head. And I thought how that can and should apply to everything in life.
In yoga, Adrienne uses it to find the sweet spot for your body without going overboard. In life, I think it can mean to find that same sweet spot, but in a different way. Was my breakfast the healthiest option? No, but it’s not sugary garbage, it tastes delicious to me, makes me excited to eat, and therefore I enjoy the first part of my day. Find what feels good.
I have a to do list sitting here that I’ve been semi-avoiding all day. Writing this late post is one item on that list. Do I want to do it? Not really. Would I rather lay around? Sure. Well, I listened to my body and took a nap…and now here I am writing it. Find the balance. Find what feels good. And I know once I’ve finished, it will feel good.
How can you apply this? Find something you are struggling with, something you don’t want to do. See if you can find the silver lining of it – or at least pair it with something that makes you happy. Find a middle ground if you need to.
Don’t want to exercise? Pop in some earbuds, fave tunes or a podcast and go for a quick walk around the block. Maybe even to a coffee or ice cream shop. Give it a purpose other than just exercise. Or a reward.
Find what feels good.
This can work for nearly anything. Give it a shot. I’d love to hear how you made something not-so-great better for you!
