The time has come! We are currently packing and tying up odds and ends to be able to get on the road this weekend. It feels very surreal at this point. I’m sure it won’t feel real until we’re actually on the road. I have a very bittersweet feeling about leaving now. As excited as I am for this adventure, I am super sad to be leaving so many loved ones behind. I know I’ll be back, and for the time we are away there are modes of communication to stay as close in touch as possible, but it’s still breaking my heart just a bit (especially when I think of not being around for the next 5-6 months for my favorite tiny humans). Ok, I’m going to try to not make this post super depressing…let’s talk about what needs to happen in the next few days…
We have brought a fair amount of our things into the RV, but we haven’t officially “moved in” all the things we will need (you know, clothes, cooking utensils, food, etc.). Our plan, as of now, is to head up to the RV today for an overnight. We will be able to measure a few things, install the LED lights, possibly install the new stairs, possibly bring/install the scooter carrier for the back of the RV, and check on a few other things. I am doing laundry as I write this, so once that is done I will be throwing a ton of clothes and such into bags to bring up. I’ll leave maybe 5 outfits worth of clothes here and take almost everything else. Same goes for kitchen things…pots/pans, utensils, cups, mugs, etc. Luckily, a while back I wrote out packing lists, so this will surely help this process. We’ll stay over night tonight and come back tomorrow, likely at night. We’ll be home from then until we are ready to officially leave. We have some loose ends to tie up, as well as cleaning and prepping the place for no one living here for months. Once we have said all our goodbyes and done everything we need to do, it will be time to go (although I am thinking there may be a quick run to the RV during this time to drop off more things). My mom will then drive us on up there and leave us on the day of our departure. Or maybe not the day of our departure, but the day that we are officially leaving home.
Even though we are heading out, we do not have everything done that we had planned. During out route, we will have a lot of things to get done. But this way we are not wasting time sitting at home while things get done. Some of these things include getting our propane tank recertified, replacing a seal in the generator, and learning how to operate/install/use the lithium-ion batteries and the battery monitoring system (assuming these things are not accomplished between now and when we depart).
So, that’s about it for now! As sad as I am, I need to focus my energy on getting everything together so we can get on the road ASAP. This is a shorter post than I expected, but once we are on the road, there will be a higher frequency in the posts on here (which is another thing I am excited for!).
I’ll leave you with a picture of my favorite tiny humans. ❤
